Tech women's golf team completes round one of Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up its first round of the spring Sunday afternoon, completing the first 18 holes of the Kiawah Island Classic.

The Golden Eagles posted a 319 overall tying for the 40th with Indiana State among the whopping 53 teams competing in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. Host College of Charleston led the immense group of teams after day one, turning in a 7-under 281.

Leading the way for the purple and gold was junior Hannah Bratton. The Jackson, Tenn. native posted a 5-over 77 to tie for 108th among the 264 golfers in the field. Senior Arianna Clemmer was next on the leaderboard for Tech, concluding round one with an 80 to tie for 160th.

Sophomore Heidi Lawson and freshman Katrine Toennesseen tied each other for 181st overall after carding scores of 81. Rounding out the Tech lineup was junior Isabel York, who tallied an 85.

Leading the tournament individually after one round of action was Charleston Southern's Ellen Hume, who fired a 5-under 67.

Round two of the Kiawah Island Classic will commence in waves on Monday, with half of the field teeing off at 7:45 a.m. CT and the second half beginning action at 12:30 p.m.
