COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team opens its 2019-20 campaign Monday morning, teeing off at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The event, hosted by Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State, will take place at Greenbrier Country Club.
MSU GREENBRIER INVITATIONAL: Sept. 16-17, 2019 – 54 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 5,961-yard Greenbrier Country Club in Lexington, Ky. Tech will kick off action with shotgun starts at 8:15 a.m. CT both days.
GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are sophomore Heidi Lawson, junior Hannah Bratton, freshman Katrine Toennessen, junior Kate Mashburn and junior Isabel York.
THE COMPETITION: The nine-team field consists of host Morehead State, as well as Austin Peay, Belmont, UIC, Lipscomb, UNC Asheville, Northern Kentucky, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. Competing with individuals only is Kentucky.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "We are looking forward to playing in this event for the first time. The women have been competing since they arrived back on campus and are excited for the challenge ahead. We are ready to start the season."
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: When freshman Katrine Toennessen makes her collegiate debut Monday, she will become the first international golfer to play for the Golden Eagles. She and her twin sister, Elisabeth, are the first international signees in program history.
