Golden Eagle women's golf team heads north for Dayton Flyer Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concludes its stretch of three straight weekends of action with a trip north for the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club beginning Monday, Oct. 14.

DAYTON FLYER INVITATIONAL: Oct. 14-15, 2019 – 36 holes (18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-70, 5,800-yard North Course at the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. Teams will kick off with a 10:00 a.m. CT shotgun start on Monday and a 9:30 a.m. start on Tuesday with tee times.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are junior Hannah Bratton, sophomore Heidi Lawson, freshman Gittle Sciolis, freshman Katrine Toennessen and freshman Makenzie Morton.

THE COMPETITION: The 14-team field consists of host Dayton, as well as, Butler, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Findley, Illinois State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio Dominican, Ohio, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso and Youngstown State.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH POLK BROWN: "We are very excited to play a new event and at a new venue this week at Dayton's tournament. The event looks to have a very solid field and outstanding course. The ladies are ready to go after Jacksonville State as we enter the tail end of the fall with only two events remaining. We are looking forward to the opportunity that lies ahead."

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Freshman Makenzie Morton will make her collegiate debut in Dayton, representing the fourth different rookie to play in an event this fall for the Golden Eagles. The Sparta native will join a very young lineup, featuring three freshmen and a sophomore, in Tech's first trip to Dayton in the Polk Brown era.
