COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech women's basketball's junior guard Megan Clark was selected to attend the Virtual Captains Academy hosted by Athletes in Action Basketball on May 15-17.

The leadership academy, which is normally held in Xenia, Ohio at the Athletes in Action World Headquarters, features two three-day sessions with the first having been held on April 24-26. Over 100 student-athletes from 51 NCAA programs all over the country will participate in the Captains Academy over the pair of three-day sessions. May's session will feature 50 players from 25 different universities.

Clark competed in 24 games for the Golden Eagles this past season. She averaged 2.7 points, shooting 39 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range, and 75 percent from the line. Clark added 18 assists, 11 steals, nine rebounds, and three blocks on the season.

This is the fourth-year that Athletes in Action Basketball has staged its Captains Academy and the first time it's been held virtually through zoom. The Academy's purpose is to, "equip, empower and encourage student-athletes to be competent, confident, effective team leaders."

The academy will feature numerous sessions and live video conferences that cover various topics from how to be a great teammate, conflict management techniques, case studies in leadership, cohort group breakdowns, communication lessons, and interviews with established leaders in business, sport and the military. Attendees will develop a deeper view of leadership and identity as well as expand the scope of their leadership understanding in the areas of connectedness and service.

Mike Petersen of the Atlanta Dream, Ariel Atkins of the Washington Mystics and former college captains and coaches headline the experience for the players. The Academy is driven and supported by a fine AIA Staff that wants to help athletes use this time well and grow in their personal leadership goals.

Athletes in Action is an international sports organization that champions faith, character, and victory beyond competition. AIA basketball hosts numerous events that send teams and develop total athletes and coaches globally. Their prime motivation is, "For the good of the game, the growth of its people, to the glory of God."
