JACKSON, Miss. -- Jake Heatherly is in third place and Tennessee
Tech has four players in the Top 10, helping the Golden Eagles to
second place after the first round of the Pizza Hut/AT&T
Invitational being hosted by Jackson State University.
With just one round remaining, the 36-hole tournament has turned
into a three-team battle for the championship among the nine teams
in the field. North Alabama holds a four-shot lead after carding a
304 on Sunday, followed by Tech in second place at 308 and UT
Martin third with a 309.
That trio of schools holds a fairly comfortable cushion over the
rest of the field, with host Jackson State and Lipscomb tied for
fourth at 322.
Tennessee State (330) is sixth, followed by Centenary (332),
Southern (351) and Alcorn State (435).
North Alabama players hold the top two spots on the individual
leaderboard. Tyler Chandler, competing individually, is the leader
at 73 while teammate Davie Gies is second at 74.
Heatherly, a senior from Jacksboro, Tenn., is tied for third at 75.
Jared Dunn, a senior from Cookeville, is tied for eighth place at
77, while senior Greyson Painter and junior Wes Korth are knotted
at 10th place after shooting rounds of 78 on Sunday. Senior Calvin
Clark is the fifth member of the Golden Eagle lineup, and posted an
84 on the first day to place him 30th.
The tournament is being held at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course on
the Choctaw Indian Reservation.
