MOREHEAD, Ky. – A masterful performance on the mound from Morehead State hurler Matt Anderson proved too much to overcome for the Tennessee Tech baseball team Saturday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles (6-8, 0-3) fell to the Eagles (12-3, 3-0) in their Ohio Valley Conference series finale, 6-1.

The Golden Eagles actually lit up the scoreboard first in the contest, using a leadoff walk to junior Tyler Brazelton, who advanced on a wild pitch, to set up the first run of the game. Two batters later, sophomore Ryan Flick ripped a double to left field, driving in Brazelton for the early 1-0 Tech lead.

Morehead State took advantage of a couple of early miscues in the Golden Eagle infield in the bottom half, plating four unearned runs to take the lead. It turned out to be enough insurance for the home team as Anderson took over from there.

While the Eagles did score two more runs in the bottom of the second, the storyline for the rest of the game belonged to the home squad's right-handed starter. Anderson shut the Golden Eagle offense out for the remainder of his time on the hill, completing the next six frames allowing just one more hit.

On the day, Anderson tallied seven innings of work, fanning 16 batters while holding Tech to one earned run on two hits and three walks. Relievers Cable Wright and Tyler Keele closed things out, allowing just two more hits over the final two frames.

Offensively, Flick led the way for the Golden Eagles, going 2-for4 with the team's lone RBI on the day. Brazelton drew two walks while finishing 1-for-2 at the dish and scoring the Tech run.

The Golden Eagles will return to action Wednesday, closing out their four-game road stretch with a single-game trip south to take on Kennesaw State. First pitch for the contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. CT start.
