LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – It was a doubleheader split for the Tennessee Tech baseball team Saturday evening, as the Golden Eagles captured a victory over Little Rock in the second contest between the two non-conference opponents.

The Trojans (21-19) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Golden Eagles (22-19) in the first contest of the night, and never looked backed taking as much as a 10-0 advantage before the visitors mounted a rally.

Tech managed to score five unanswered runs over the final four frames of game one, using an RBI single from Chase Chambers in the sixth to kick off a comeback effort that would prove too little too late. The squad then tallied four more in the eighth, collecting RBI from Chambers, David Garza and a wild pitch.

The late rally sparked the offense for game two, as the Golden Eagles plated 14 to run away with the game two victory. Little Rock actually jumped in front for a second straight time, posting a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first frame. Then the Tech offense struck.

In the top of the fourth, sophomore Ryan Flick led off the scoring effort with a bases-loaded walk, one of three free passes issued to the slugger in the contest. Junior catcher Connor Goodspeed followed with a two-run single to center field two batters later, knotting things up at three apiece.

Tech took the lead for good in the fifth, taking a run thanks to a solo home run down the right field line from senior Jake Farr. The veteran would also smack a three-run shot in the top of the ninth inning as well.

The Golden Eagles traded a four-run frame in the sixth with the Trojans, holding a slim 8-7 lead until an explosive ninth. In the final inning, the visitors erupted for six runs, led by Farr's second long ball of the evening.

Junior hurler Jake Usher took his first victory of the season, striking out six batters in the contest. Kit Fowler picked up his second save of the year, tossing the final three innings of the game without allowing a base runner.

The rubber match of the series is set for a 1 p.m. CT start Sunday afternoon.
