CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - For the first time since opening day, the Tennessee Tech baseball team's ace Tristan Archer (5-2) found himself on the losing end of a contest as the Golden Eagles (21-9, 10-3) scored too little too late while falling at Austin Peay (25-5, 8-1) Friday night, 7-3.

Going up against one of the Ohio Valley Conference's best offensive units, Tech's senior starter found himself with his hands full, giving up six earned runs in the contest, his highest total of the season. The Austin Peay bats found comfort at home, stringing together nine hits and seven runs in the contest.

The Golden Eagles looked to have a spark that might provide a rally, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh and cutting the Governors' lead in half. It was just APSU starter Lee Ridenhour's (5-0) day, however, as the junior righty put together eight innings of solid work, striking out nine batters, including three in the eighth to end Tech's hopes of taking the first game of this weekend's series.

Leading the Tech comeback attempt was right fielder Michael Morris, who started the rally with an RBI single in the top of the seventh. The senior finished 1-for-4 from the plate. Shortstop Dylan Bosheers turned out the only multi-hit effort for the Golden Eagles, going 2-of-4 on the night.

With two more games still in sight, the Golden Eagles will look to even the series on Saturday with a 2 p.m. CDT tilt.
