Bruins Volleyball ground Golden Eagles in 3-0 sweep

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech volleyball team faced Belmont for the first time in Ohio Valley Conference action, and fell to the Bruins in three sets Saturday afternoon.

Set scores for the Bruins were 25-14, 25-17, 25-23. 

The Golden Eagles struggled to get off the ground as the Bruins held Tech to a .019 attack percentage. Kelsey Gray led the Golden Eagle attack with a .438 attack percentage. Gray collected eight terminations on 16 swings. Elise Robertson returned to the court for the first time this season, collecting three kills on nine swings and a .333 attack percentage. Robertson didn't record any attack errors and had two block assists. Outside hitter Ellen Conti also had four kills for the Golden Eagles. 

Gray again led the Golden Eagle blocking effort with three blocks, two solo and one block assist. Madison Keyes and Conti chipped in with one block each. Conti also sprawled for nine digs. Courtney Smith had 11 digs for the second night in a row. 

Madison Comperry had six digs of her own and dished out 14 assists. 

The Golden Eagles return to action next weekend for two home matches at the Hooper Eblen Center. Tech will face Eastern Kentucky Friday night at 7 p.m. CT. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Golden Eagles will show their support in a special PINK OUT event.  Morehead State travels to Cookeville Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
