COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Golden Eagles faced the defending Ohio Valley Conference Champions Saturday afternoon, and despite great play in the second set, could not take down the Eagles of Morehead State. 

Set scores for Morehead State were 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, and 25-15.

Kelsey Gray and Cody Dodd turned in exceptional performances for the Golden Eagles. Gray recorded 12 kills, just shy of a double-double with eight blocks. Gray had two solo blocks and six block assists. Gray is currently ranked first in the OVC with 1.37 blocks per set. Gray is just above Morehead State's Ann Gruenschlaeger, who only turned in five blocks against Tech. 

Dodd had a career high 12 kills, and a .333 attack percentage. Dodd had four blocks of her own, totaling 14 points for the Golden Eagles. Dodd was only one of two players to turn in double-digit points. Outside hitters Audrey Lewis and Ellen Conti tallied six and five kills respectively. Middle hitter Madison Keyes hit .500, in a flawless performance with four terminations on eight swings. 

Madison Comperry dished out 21 assists and Ashleigh Hancock recorded 18. Both players had five digs. Libero Courtney Smith sprawled for a match-high 22 digs.

Morehead state was led by Ellie Roberson, who recorded 32 kills for the Eagles; no other Eagle attacker earned double-digit kills. 

Morehead boasts the title of holding opponents to the lowest attack percentage in the conference but in the second set, Tech hit a .231 clip. The Golden Eagles won the second set, and thanks to Tech's defense, held Morehead State to a .108 attack percentage. 

Tech returns to the court Friday, Oct. 19 against Belmont. The home-match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
