Volleyball falls in gut-wrenching match against Eastern Kentucky 3-2.

 

RICHMOND, KY. -- The Golden Eagles jumped to an early 2-1 lead in the match, but the Colonels came back to win the match 3-2 Saturday on their home court. The Golden Eagles, (2-22, 0-12 OVC) outblocked the Colonels eighteen blocks to eight, and out swung Eastern Kentucky .148 to .129 but it wasn't enough for Tech.  

Gray had a career high 10 block assists and a season high 11 blocks in a double-double performance. In addition to Gray's incredible blocking perfomance, she added 12 kills, leading the Golden Eagles. Two other Golden Eagles tallied double-digit kills. Madison Keyes went 10 for 28 with a .286 attack percentage and Elise Robertson had 10 terminations on 23 swings for a  .217 attack percentage. Freshman Audrey Lewis and Cody Dodd contributed 9 and 7 kills respectively. 

Courtney Smith sprawled for 23 digs, setter Madison Comperry added 18 digs and Audrey lewis tallied 16. 

Comperry also added 21 assists with Ashleigh Hancock dishing out 23 assists. 

Tech will return to Hooper-Eblen Center, for their final home appearance of the season, Homecoming weekend, Nov. 2-3. Friday night, the Golden Eagles will take on SIU Edwardsville at 7:00 p.m and then host Southeast Missouri Saturday at 5 p.m. Saturday, the Tech will honor its three seniors: Madi ComperryKatrina Dvorken and Kelsey Gray as they will play their final game in the Hoop.
