Golden Eagle soccer team puts in work at Northeast Elementary

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Always heavily involved throughout the community, the Tennessee Tech soccer team continued that tradition recently by volunteering to help clean up Northeast Elementary school.

On Wednesday, Aug. 14 the team trecked out to the school to help clean up the interior of the facilities. The players assisted with wiping down doors and doorways and cleaning up the hallways so the children of the school had a nice environment in which to learn.

The team returned to Northeast Elementary on Friday, making an even bigger contribution to the school that the students were able to enjoy in a completely different way. The team cleaned and painted the school's playground equipment, giving the children a nicer looking area in which to play and enjoy its fitness time.

The Golden Eagle soccer team has been known to make several volunteer trips to surrounding schools, assisting in whatever ways it can. This week's trip made a lasting difference with the students that is both internal and external and will be remembered by the kids for a long time.

The Golden Eagles will open the 2013 season with a neutral site contest in Knoxville against Kennesaw State on Friday, Aug. 23.

Here's what the equipment looked like before the Golden Eagle arrived.

These girls did what it took to make the equipment look like new. What teamwork!

The equipment was pretty dirty before the Tech soccer team got there.
