CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech track and field team participated in the APSU Invitational on the campus of Austin Peay State University, on Saturday, scoring 12 team points and finishing in seventh overall.
Two of Tech's four point scorers placed in the 400m race. Senior Brooklyn Kimball recorded a career-best time of 58.58 and finished in thirrd, scoring six points. Sophomore Tiara Hymon scored three points as she finished in sixth with a career-best time of 59.57.
Tech earned two points on a career-best throw in the discus from senior Ashley Lowe. Lowe hit a mark of 110-09.00. Sophomore Jaelyn Todd also competed in the discus, hitting a mark of 97-10.00.
The final point was earned by freshman Madison Stremler. Stremler earned the point while finishing eighth in the 800m race. She recorded a career-best time of 2:19.12. Also competing in the 800m were freshmen Priscah Jemeli and Kathie O'Neill. Jemelli finished in a career-best time of 2:23.08, while O'Neill crossed the line in 2:34.18.
In the 200m dash, sophomore Atlanta Westbrook and freshman Kayla Turange both ran personal bests. Westbrook recorded a mark of 26.36, while Turange followed with 27.22.
Sophomoere Brittany McGee, junior Chelsea Mills, and Turange all competed in the 100m dash. McGee finsihed in a time of 13.13, while Turange ran a career-best 13.17. Mills followed with a time of 13.22.
Freshman Sonel Bezuidenhout ran a career-best in the 5000m race with a time of 18:50.70.
In the field events, sophomore Makayla Kington recorded two career-highs. In the shot put, Kington hit a mark of 35-02, while in the javelin she hit a mark of 93-00. Freshman Bethany Parker recorded a career-best 30-03.75 in the shot put as well.
Tech will compete at the A-State Red Wolves Open next weekend at Arkansas State.
