MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team rounded out its second round of action at the GolfWeek Program Challenge Monday afternoon, receiving production from both its veteran and rookie participants.
The Golden Eagles completed their second day of play at True Blue Plantation with a composite team score of 296, just one shot back of Sunday's final tally.
Leading the way for the purple and gold Monday afternoon was true freshman Charles Seals, who exploded for a 2-under 70 after carding a 77 in his first collegiate round the day prior. He ranks second among the Tech lineup with a 147 and sits in a tie for 51st overall.
Tech's two sophomore veterans, Matthew Giles and Ben Huskey matched each other in their second go around the course, posting 75s for the day. Giles remained the leader in the Golden Eagle clubhouse, sporting a 144 to rank tied for 32nd overall. Huskey's second round brought his two-day total to 151.
Two more true freshman notched identical scores in second-round action as Cameron Yeary and Dabney Dickenson each tallied 76s for their day's work. Yeary finished the day ranked third for Tech at 149 while Dickenson held a total score of 154.
"There were plenty of positives out there today," head coach Polk Brown said. "The key now will be to take those positives and build on them as we look to wrap up play tomorrow with another solid round."
