COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech football team will
gather Sunday afternoon, Jan. 30, for coach Watson Brown to present
the team's annual awards, and the public is invited to attend the 5
p.m. Awards Dinner in the Roaden University Center. The cost of the
dinner is $16 per person.
Brown will announce the winners of the Robert Hill Johnson Award,
and several additional honors for the 2010 Golden Eagles including
the Sonny Allen Leadership Award, the Unsung Hero Award, and the
Tech Pride Award. A few new awards will also be presented,
including Offensive and Defensive MVP honors, plus the top
Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards. The Headliner Award will
also be announced.
The Golden Eagles, who played early games against Rose Bowl
winner TCU and Sugar Bowl participant Arkansas, finished 2010 with
a 5-6 overall record. Tech faced two Top 10 BCS teams as well as
two Top 10 FCS squads (Jacksonville State and Southeast Missouri)
during the year, and had to battle a rash of injuries late in the
year that sidelined as many as nine starters for the final four
weeks.
Still, Tech rebounded on the final day of the regular season with
a fourth quarter rally to defeat No. 4 Jacksonville State, 35-24,
in Tucker Stadium.
Fans wishing to attend the dinner can call the football office at
(931) 372-3930 or the Athletics Ticket Office at (931)
372-3940.
