Golden Eagle baseball team passes skills along at OVC Youth Clinic

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Reaching back to the days when they were small children just learning the game of baseball, the Tennessee Tech baseball teams shared some of its skills Tuesday with area youngsters at a Youth Clinic sponsored by the Ohio Valley Conference in conjunction with the 2011 OVC Baseball Championship Tournament.

On the day prior to the start of the tournament, student-athletes and coaches from the six participating teams helped conduct the clinic at Pringles Park, the site of this year's tournament.

Put on by the OVC and the Jackson Generals, the event was held for the first time at this venue; the clinic was previously held (2002-09) when the Championship was held in Paducah, Ky.

This year's event featured student-athletes and coaches from OVC schools taking the participants through pitching, fielding and hitting drills. The youth participants were able to interact with the collegiate athletes who also explained to the participants how they balanced their time as both a student and an athlete.

The six teams participating in this year's OVC Tournament are Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.
