COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the conference tournament looming, Tech has just seven games remaining in their regular season of play and only one mid-week contest remaining in their home stand against Lipscomb on Tuesday. Just the second night game of the season for the Golden Eagles in Bush Stadium, the first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
Already having edged the Bisons, 6-5, in Nashville earlier this year, the Golden Eagles will look to complete the season sweep and close in on the 33-28 lead that Lipscomb holds on the lifetime record.
Casanova Donaldson continues to lead the line-up at the plate, hitting at a .331 mark in various positions in the order. The veteran outfielder's 56-for-169 efforts on the year have yielded 26 RBI for Tech in 44 games started. Fellow senior and outfielder Chad Oberacker leads the team in scoring, having notched 44 RBI going 52-for-169 in the batters box for a .306 average. Additionally, Oberacker leads the Golden Eagles in total bases with 91 and home runs with nine.
Both Donaldson and Oberacker went 3-for-5 against the Bison's pitching staff in their last outing.
Tech plans to pitch a staff on Tuesday, with the starter to be determined. Likewise, Lipscomb's starting hurler has yet to be determined.
The Bisons will look to Richie Goodenow with his team-high .376 average at the plate, and Josh Chism, who's .326 mark has helped him amass 34 RBI for the team on the year. However it was M.L. Williams and Kyle Henry who were responsible for the majority of the runs on the board for Lipscomb. Both batters, who are hitting .355 and .252 respectively, had multi-RBI games with two apiece.
Following Tuesday evening's game, Tech will host one more conference series against UT Martin this weekend, and will travel to Murray for the final OVC series of the season the following weekend.
