Start time change in game one of Tech's three-game series with Ohio

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- In a change of schedule, the Golden Eagles will host Ohio in a double-header event on Friday, with game one starting at 2 p.m. and game two being played immediately after. Game three of the series is set to be played on Sunday at 1 p.m.
They'll be looking to carry their winning momentum into the weekend to improve their 3-6 overall record.

The Bobcats currently sit with a record of 2-6, having won two of their last four games in Davidson, N.C. -- splitting games with Lehigh, defeating Lafayette and taking a loss to Davidson in the three-day tournament.

Game one of the series will mark the first time that the two opponents have faced off in program history, and the Golden Eagles will look to sophomore right-hander Tristan Archer to set the tone on Friday afternoon. Archer has made two starts in three appearances this season and leads the Golden Eagles in innings pitched with 15. He's recorded a 1-1 record with one save, having faced 55 batters and allowing only 15 hits, striking out 13. His ERA 2.40 ranks second on the team.

The Golden Eagles will throw junior RHP Matt Shepherd (pictured) in game two. Shepherd has also made two starts in three outings, pitching 13 innings and allowing 15 hits. His 13 strikeouts ranks second on the team at present, and he maintains an ERA of 4.15. The hurler for game three is still yet to be determined for Tech.

Ohio will throw three of the following four pitchers, in a rotation that is still to be determined as well. Seth Streich is a sophomore righty who leads the Bobcats with an ERA of 2.61 in 10.1 innings pitched. He's struck out 11 and allowed three runs on five hits in two outings. He also contributes offensively with a .476 (10-21) batting average. Southpaw Tyler Backstrom has a 4.26 ERA and a 1-0 record, having pitched 6.1 innings on the season and allowing seven runs on 14 hits. Matt Robin (RHP) or Brent Choban (LHP) will fill the final rotation spot; Robin has a 2.89 ERA and a 1-1 record, while Choban sits with a 7.59 and one loss in two games started.

Game three of the series is set for Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
