Golden Eagles close out regular outdoor season at Tennessee Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech track and field team competed in the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday, as part of their preparation for the upcoming OVC Outdoor Championships. Despite rain intermittently throughout the day causing participants to scratch from their heats, the Golden Eagles put on a promising performance heading into next weekend.

Na'Asha Robinson placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.28, while teammate D'Airrien Jackson clocked in right behind her in second with a 54.73 mark. N. Robinson and Jackson beat out runners from Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and Clayton State.

Micayla Rennick claimed a first-place finish in the 800 meter with a time of 2:11.67, while teammates Madison Stremler placed fourth in the race with a 2:16.70 mark and Andrea Retano came in 10th with a time of 2:40.67. Rennick topped runners from Lee (Tenn.), Vanderbilt, and Jacksonville State.

Jenna Storms placed 10th in the 1,500 meter with a time of 5:02.01, while Eshe' Robinson placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27. NaScottisha Drummond tied with sixth other participants in the high jump with a 1.55-meter leap, while Antonia Susnjar claimed a first place finish in the javelin with a 38.16 meter throw.

The Purple and Gold squad will head to the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships on Thurdsday-Saturday at Jacksonville State University.
