Jackson wins adidas® OVC Outdoor Female Track co-Athlete of the Week for second consecutive week

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—For the second consecutive week, D'Airrien Jackson has been named the adidas® OVC Outdoor Female Track co-Athlete of the Week on April 19. 

Jackson won the 800 meters at the Austin Peay Invitational last week with a time of 2:09.36. The mark is first in the OVC this season. She also ran a leg of the 4x100 relay that finished first with a league season-best of 46.36, which is a new Tech school school record.

MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jarred Pasley, Jr., St. Louis, Mo. – Southeast Missouri

Pasely finished second in the 400 meters at the Gibson Invite (OVC vs. MVC Challenge). His time of 47.38 is the best in the conference this season.

CO-FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ruth Garippo, Sr., Roselle, Ill. – Eastern Illinois

Garippo ran the 10,000 meters for the first time in her career at the Mt. SAC Relays. She ran in the Elite Invite Race and finished with a time of 35:20.52 to set a new school record and rank first in the OVC this season. The time is also 49th in the NCAA West Region

MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Braden Carei, So., Uniontown, Pa. – Belmont

Carei won the pole vault event at the Austin Peay Invitational last week. His mark of 15'07" set a school record and is third in the league this year.

FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kayla Gutierrez, Sr., Kirkwood, Mo. – Southeast Missouri

Gutierrez recorded a trio of top five finishes last week at the Gibson Invite (OVC vs. MVC Challenge). She took first in the hammer throw with a toss of 184'05 while finishing third in the discus with a mark of 156'10". Her hammer throw and discus throw marks both rank first in the OVC this year. Gutierrez also placed fourth in the in the shot put with a throw of 46'01.50 which is fifth in the league this season.
