Robinson and Jackson to represent Tech track at NCAA East Preliminaries

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.— Returning to the track and ready to represent the Purple and Gold, Na'Asha Robinson and D'Airrien Jackson will be competing at the national level for the Tennessee Tech track and field team. This is the second consecutive year the two have qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, both traveling to Jacksonville, Fla., last season as freshmen.

This year, N. Robinson and Jackson will head to Lexington, Ky., at the University of Kentucky on Thursday-Saturday to compete at the 2017 NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and battle for the chance to race in the championships in Eugene, Ore. Festivities are expected to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, 1 p.m. CT on Friday, and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Tickets

Tickets for the event are available here. General admission is $35 per person, while youth, seniors, and college students (with valid I.D.) can purchase a ticket for $25 for a weekend pass. Day passes will also be available for $15 general admission and $10 for youth, seniors, and college students. 

Key Notes

Na'Asha Robinson and D'Airrien Jackson will be competing on behalf of the Golden Eagles in the 400-meter race. N. Robinson recently claimed the 400-meter title at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships with a time of 53.34. Teammate D'Airrien Jackson clocked in right behind her at second with a 53.91 mark. However, Jackson currently holds the Tech school record in the outdoor 400-meter with a time of 52.64, which she set on March 26, 2016 at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

In the NCAA, N. Robinson currently holds the 29th best time this season with a 52.81 mark, which she set at the Weems Baskin Invitational on March 24. While, Jackson's time is 100th in the NCAA with a 53.91 mark, which she recently notched at the OVC Championships as is expected to build upon this week.

The women's 400-meter first round is set for 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, while the quarterfinals will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
