COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech track and field team will kick off their outdoor season on Friday-Saturday at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina at the Cregger Track facility. Festivities on both days are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT.

"We are excited to be competing again after a well-deserved rest from our championship efforts at the indoor OVC Championships," head coach Wayne Angel said. "We are revived and ready to put in the work and be the best that we can be in May."

"The Weems Baskin Invitational is going to be a highly competitive meet," Angel continued. "I look to see numerous records fall this weekend. We don't intend to rest on our laurels. We recognize that there is still a lot of work yet to be done and that is our focus this weekend."

Sarah Brandt will kick off her outdoor season competing in the 1,500-meter, which she possesses the school record in with a time of 4:30.41. Antonia Susnjar will be competing in the javelin, which she hold the Golden Eagle record for with a 128'9" mark.

Robinson was also part of the quad of Jaydean Joseph, Sharnique Leonce, and D'Airrien Jackson that claimed a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:46.60, which smashed the former Golden Eagle school record

The group of Sarah Brandt, Joseph, Madison Stremler, and Micayla Rennick claimed a first place finish in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay. Their time of 11:50.66, smashed the OVC meet record of 11:53.75, which was previously held by a 2015 Eastern Kentucky squad.

Leonce claimed a first place finish in the pentathlon. Leonce recorded 3,454 points in the races, tallying over 100 points more than the next participant from Murray State.
