LEXINGTON, Ky.—For the first time in Tech school history, Na'Asha Robinson has earned a spot in the NCAA finals and a trip to Eugene, Oregon to compete against the best of the best. Robinson placed sixth in the quaterfinals of the NCAA East Preliminaries on Friday afternoon.

"Na'Asha ran an amazing race," head coach Wayne Angel said. "She has done what no other track and field athlete has ever done in the history of Tennessee Tech. She qualified for the NCAA Championships. She is truly the queen of track and field at Tech. We are so proud of her, all of her hard work has paid off and a school record to boot."

Robinson recorded a school record time of 52.00 (more than a second off her time in the first round of the prelims) in the 400-meter race to earn her a place in the top 12 and qualify for nationals.

The University of Miami's Shakima Wimbley placed first in the race with a time of 51.23, while LSU's Travia Jones came in second with a 51.63 mark. Robinson topped runners from top schools of LSU, Florida State, Maryland, Purdue, Ohio State, Alabama, and Miami.

Robinson will compete on the national stage in Eugene, Oregon, on June 7-10.
