Tech Track and Field ranks 14th in the South Region

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech track and field team is making a name for themselves on the national level. In this week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Regional Poll the Golden Eagles were ranked 14th in the South Region, moving up one slot from their previous ranking last week. 

Tech ranks above teams from the Ohio Valley Conference like Tennessee State (16) and UT Martin (21), while also coming in above other top teams from various conferences such as Georgia Tech (17), Southern Mississippi (18), Memphis (20), South Florida (23), and UAB (29). 

On an individual level, two Tech track athletes find themselves ranked regionally as well. Na'Asha Robinson ranks fourth in the South Region in the 400-meter dash for her time of 53.20 that she recorded this past weekend at the Meyo Invitational. N. Robinson ranks above runners from schools of Miami (Fla.), Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Florida. Micayla Rennick ranks fifth in the South Region in the 5,000-meter run. She notched a time of 17:04.23 in the Indiana University Relays on January 28 in Bloomington, Ind. Rennick ranks above athletes from teams of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Florida A&M. 

The quad of Sarah Brandt, N. Robinson, D'Airrien Jackson, and Micayla Rennick also find themselves ranking regionally in the distance medley relay. The team recorded a time of 11:35.22 at the Meyo Invitational this past weekend to break the former Golden Eagle school record. Their time ranks them third in the South Region, notching in above teams from Southern Mississippi, Central Florida, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State University, and Georgia Tech.
