COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech track and field team will look to keep their momentum of success going as they head to South Bend, Ind., to compete at the Meyo Invitational held at the University of Notre Dame on Friday-Saturday. The Golden Eagles' performances thus far this season have landed them ranked as No. 15 in the South Region and the Tech squad will look to continue to climb the polls with this weekend's tight competition. A Look at the Competition

The University of Notre Dame is currently ranked ninth in the nation and will prove to be tight competition for the Golden Eagles. Tech and the Fighting Irish will be two of the many teams competing at this weekend's meet. The Golden Eagles will be joined by some of the top teams in the country from numerous different conferences. Some of the teams competing at the invitational will be Indiana State, Louisville, Purdue, Eastern Illinois, Saint Louis, Illinois, DePaul, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Central Michigan, University of Miami, Eastern Michigan, Minnesota, Butler, and UW-Milwaukee.

Competitions to Watch

Week after week, Tech runners continue to break school records. The Golden Eagles once again have the potential to crack even more this weekend in races such as the 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, distance medley, 3,000 meters, high jump, triple jump, and 4x400-meter relay.

Keep your eye on Tech's Micayla Rennick in the 3,000-meter run. Earlier this season Rennick claimed the school record at the Gene Edmonds Invitational when she recorded a time of 9:50.99. Rennick will look to improve upon her time to top her own school-best performance. Other races to keep your eye out for will be the 800-meter run where current school record holder Sarah Brandt will be looking to top her time of 2:11.00, and the 400-meter dash where Tech standouts Na'Asha Robinson and D'Airrien Jackson will look to record top-finishes once again this weekend.

"Our focus this week is to sharpen our skills as we prepare for the upcoming OVC championships," Angel continued. "This venue will give us an opportunity to shine on a national level. Competition at Notre Dame will serve as a catalyst for us to prepare and assemble the best team possible for the OVC championships."

Last Time Out

Most recently, the Golden Eagles competed at the Indiana University Relays in Bloomington, Ind. There, Rennick broke another school record, this time in the 5,000-meter run on day one of the competition. Rennick recorded a time of 17:04.23 in the race, claiming a first place finish amongst 14 participants. Her time topped former Golden Eagle standout Stephanie Place's record of 17:36.63, which she established at the TSU Invitational in February of 2008.

N. Robinson claimed two first-place finishes in the meet as well. On day one, N. Robinson beat out all other runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.24. Then on day two she claimed her second first-place victory of the meet in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.62 to beat out all other 29 runners.

"Records continue to be broken, rankings have risen and attitudes and morale are soaring," Angel said. "We're in a great place as a team. It has been said that 'Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice, it not a thing to be waited for, but a thing to be achieved.' This is their team; it's up to them how far we go."
