COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—After breaking two school records (one in the 3,000-meter and one in the mile), Micayla Rennick has been selected as the Ohio Valley Conference adidas® co-Female Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 11.
Rennick finished second in the 3,000-meter at the Gene Edmonds Open and took second in the mile in the Vanderbilt Opener to kickoff the 2017 season. Her 3,000-meter time of 9:50.99 ranks first in the OVC and ninth in the nation, while her mile time of 4:54.06 is the best in the OVC and 13th in the nation.
The Golden Eagle Track and Field team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when Tech travels to Champaign, Ill., to compete at the Illini Classic.

MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Quamel Prince, Sr., Nashville, Tenn. – Tennessee State
Prince took first in the 800-meters at the Vanderbilt Opener while also taking first in the Mile at the Ed Temple Classic. Prince was part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team at the Vanderbilt Opener. The relay team won the race in 3:14.96 which ranks 22nd in the nation this year. He won the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.22 which is first in the OVC this year and is 12th in the nation. He set a personal record with a mile time of 4:23.30 which ranks fourth in the league this year.

CO-FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Charlotte Imer, Jr., Melbourne, Australia – Eastern Kentucky
Imer placed third in the 5,000 meters at the Hoosier Open. She posted a personal-best time of 16:16.05. The time is currently the fastest in the nation and is 10th in the nation. It also ranks third on the EKU Indoor 5,000-meter list.

Rennick also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay at the Gene Edmonds Open.

MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kareem Nicholas, Sr., Atlanta, Ga. – Tennessee State
Nicholas took first in the triple jump at the Ed Temple Classic while he was third in the long jump at the Vanderbilt Opener. His triple jump mark of 49'05.75" is first in the OVC and ranks 13th in the nation. Nicholas' long jump distance of 23'04.75" also tops the OVC and is 41st in the nation so far this year.

FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Amber Hughes, Sr., Atlanta, Ga. – Tennessee State
Hughes took first place in the triple jump and the long jump at the Ed Temple Classic. Her triple jump mark of 44'01.25" is the best in the nation this season. She won the long jump with a leap of 20'6.50" which is first in the OVC this year and tied for fifth in the nation.
