Frazier, Grey Team shuts out Purple Team to force decisive Game 5


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech Grey Team played its best baseball of the Purple and Gold Series Tuesday afternoon, shutting out the Purple team despite having its back to the wall the first elimination game of the series.

The Grey Team was powered by a combined, three-pitcher shutout and the power bat of senior utility man Evan Frazier.

Frazier nabbed one of just four hits for the Grey Team, but it proved to be the biggest hit of the series. He nailed a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to solidify a Grey Team victory and force the decisive Game 5.

Sophomore outfielder David Allen grabbed two hits in the game, as well as the deciding RBI off a second-inning double.

Three pitchers on the Grey Team combined for a two-hit shutout. Sophomore right hander David Hess pitched 3.2 innings while recording four strikeouts. Junior righties Ross Spurgeon and Byron Skinner combined for the final 3.1 innings.

Game 5 will be held at Bush Stadium in the Averitt Express Baseball Complex on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
