Golden Eagles to host rival Murray State in three-game series

Golden Eagles to host rival Murray State in three-game series

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - With just three more series left in Ohio Valley Conference play, the Tennessee Tech baseball team knows each contest grows with importance as the Golden Eagles (29-12, 16-5) look to capture its first regular season championship since 2010.

The first of Tech's final three OVC opponents, Murray State (17-23, 6-12) will make the weekend trip to Cookeville for a three-game series beginning Friday with a 6 p.m. CDT contest. Senior Tristan Archer (6-3) will look for his seventh victory of the season as he takes on the Thoroughbred's Cameron Finch (4-2) in game one.

On Saturday, Ross Spurgeon (2-2) will face off against Cashty DeLeeuw (3-1) in a 2 p.m. game. Jacob Honea (2-1) will wrap up the weekend for the Golden Eagles, looking to mimick last week's gem at Jacksonville State that earned the sophomore adidas OVC co-Pitcher of the Week honors. He will be pitted against Murray State's Cody Maerz (2-2) in a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.

Fans can follow this weekend's game via live stats here. Both Friday's and Saturday's contests will be web streamed on the OVC Digital Network pending weather. Fans can watch the free video stream here.
