JACKSON, Tenn. – The Road to Omaha starts here. That is a verifiable fact as the Tennessee Tech baseball team gets ready for its 15th Ohio Valley Conference Tournament appearance, searching for its fourth OVC tourney title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
The Golden Eagles are coming off one of the best regular seasons in program history, tying the school record for wins in a season (39), breaking the OVC record for league wins in season (24), and winning their eighth OVC regular season championship. The team put together a 14-game winning streak (tied for the nation's longest when it ended), tying the school record. Tech also pulled off the biggest upset in both program and Tennessee Tech athletics history, defeating the No. 2 ranked Vanderbilt Commadores in Nashville.
After earning the No. 1 seed in the tournament, Tech will receive a bye into the second round, playing its first game Thursday at 7 p.m. CDT. The Golden Eagles will face the lowest seeded team winning in the first round of play on Wednesday.
Fans can watch the entire 2013 OVC Baseball Tournament live on the OVC Digital Network. There is no charge to watch the event and the games are available on any computer, tablet or smart phone.
Tickets for the event will be $10 per day or $28 for an all-session pass (up to 11 total games). There is also a $8 a day rate (or $25 for an all-tournament pass) for students/faculty of OVC-member schools (with valid ID) or for groups. All seats at the 6,000-seat park are general admission for the OVC Championship.
Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Jackson Generals box office or by calling (731) 988-5299 or going online here: https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/team.asp?sponsorid=4577.
