Miles named CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Player of the Week

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Chalk up another award for Tennessee Tech third baseman Daniel Miles. The junior infielder collected his third honor of the week Wednesday afternoon, being named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Sluggger National Player of the Week.

The awards are starting to pile up for Miles, who earned Collegiate Baseball newspaper Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of Week honors earlier this week.

A transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Miles was a beast for the Golden Eagles this past week. The third baseman crushed four home runs while driving in nine RBI and scoring seven times. He earned an average of .500 after a 7-for-14 performance at the plate while also slugging 1.357. He also garnered five walks, contributing to a .632 on-base percentage.

The junior did the bulk of his damage against OVC foe Austin Peay on Saturday, tying a Golden Eagle record with three homers in a single contest. Miles smacked dingers in three consecutive innings, driving in a career-high six runs while guiding his team to a 10-7 win. He also combined with shortstop Dylan Bosheers to become the first set of teammates to hit back-to-back long balls in consecutive innings in Tech history. Each hit first-pitch bombs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

He added another home run against the Govs on Sunday, going back-to-back with designated hitter Brandon Thomasson in the second inning to set up a 12-4 win.

A crucial part of the Golden Eagle squad this season, Miles leads Tech in both average and slugging percentage, totaling marks of .343 and .657, respectively. He ranks second on the team and fourth in the OVC with seven home runs and has driven in 28 runs in 28 games played.
