Wings Up Caravans feature 10 stops, starts July 6 in Gainesboro

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With fall sports just around the corner, the Tennessee Tech athletics department will continue its summer-long tradition of traveling the Upper Cumberland, spreading the word and excitement about Golden Eagle athletics with the Wings Up Caravans.

Starting in early July, the Caravans will visit eight communities around the area through the week of Tech's football season opener against Western Illinois. At each stop, fans will get to visit with Tech coaches, student-athletes, spirit teams and with mascot Awesome Eagle, as the university gets set to kick off the 2017-18 campaign.

There are 10 total stops in all, starting with a July 6 visit to the Gainesboro Save-A-Lot. The following week sees two appearances as the Caravan rolls on to Cookeville's Hometown IGA on Tuesday, July 11, before heading over to DeKalb County and the Smithville Walmart on July 13.

The next six stops will all be on Thursday nights as the Caravan stops in Crossville (July 20, Walmart), Cookeville (July 27, Save-A-Lot), Livingston (Aug. 3, Save-A-Lot), Sparta (Aug. 10, Walmart), McMinnville (Aug. 17, Walmart) and back again in Cookeville (Aug. 24, Walmart). The final caravan will be held on Aug. 29 at the Algood Walmart.

Sponsored by 98.5 KISS FM, Pepsi and TTUsports.com, every caravan will run from 5 p.m. to 6:38 p.m. Each event features a tailgate atmosphere with free hot dogs and soft drinks. Prizes and giveaways will also be held at each event, including registration for a grand prize drawing at the end of the caravan slate for a prize package that includes a pair of season tickets for Tennessee Tech football and basketball, a TTU Pride Package, a pair of tickets to a concert to be determined and a pair of tickets to the Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament in Evansville, Ind.

The grand prize registration will be conducted by 98.5 KISS FM – the broadcast home of Golden Eagle football – and the winner will be announced at the final caravan stop on Aug. 29 at the Algood Walmart.

No winners will be selected under the age of 18. The winner may not be a high school student-athlete or immediate family member of a student-athlete without jeopardizing collegiate eligibility at an NCAA institution. Complete rules for the contest can be found at the 98.5 KISS FM website.
