COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With each of the Ohio Valley Conference fall seasons officially under wraps, the time to take a look at the OVC Commissioner's Cup Standings is at hand and for Tennessee Tech Athletics, the first round of results looks highly promising.

Powered by strong finishes from the Golden Eagle football, soccer and cross country programs, Tech Athletics ranks fourth among the 12 members of the Ohio Valley Conference, scoring a total of 36 points.

"This is a credit to the incredibly hard work our coaching staffs and student-athletes have put in over the summer and fall," Director of Athletics Mark Wilson said. "We are proud of each of our programs and are excited to see the results of all of our teams over the next several months as we compete for the OVC Commissioner's Cup."

TTU finished just one point behind in-state rival Belmont (37) while two of the three Kentucky institutions in the league collected the top two spots. Eastern Kentucky ranked first overall with 48.5 points and Murray State followed with 44 points.

The Tennessee Tech women's cross country team kicked off the strong fall showing by the Golden Eagles, finishing seventh at the OVC Championships behind a sixth place finish from Micayla Rennick. Tech received six points for the finish, which was just the beginning.

Less than an hour later, the men's cross country team kicked things up a notch, placing fifth at the OVC Championships thanks to a first-place showing from the league's Freshman of the Year, Gilbert Boit. The finish provided Tech with eight additional points.

The Golden Eagle soccer team enjoyed another fantastic season in 2016, finishing third in the conference with a 6-2-2 mark in league play and 11-6-4 overall record. The team boasted three All-OVC First Team honorees, a Second-Team recipient and, for the second-straight year, the OVC Defensive Player of the Year. Tech collected 10 points from the finish.

The Tech football team wrapped up the strong fall showing with a thrilling, Senior Day victory over Murray State Saturday afternoon, throttling the Racers, 55-19, to secure a 5-3 mark and third-place finish in the final OVC standings. The finish provided Tech with 10 more points for a grand total of 36.
