COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech volleyball team was downed
by Tennessee State on Tuesday night in an Ohio Valley Conference
matchup. Tennessee State won the match in three sets, 25-17, 25-20,
25-18.
The Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Cody Dodd who put
down a team-high eight kills, while junior Ellen Conti put
down six kills and hit an impressive .312. Senior setter Ashleigh
Hancock led the match with 27 assists.
The Tigers were led by Naomi Wells who put down a game-high
11 kills and Erika Moss added 27 assists to match Hancock for a
match-high number.
The closest moment in the match was during set two when the Golden Eagles made a valliant comeback from a 15-10 deficit to cut the lead to 21-20. However, the Golden Eagles were never quite able to capitalize on the rally, and the Tigers took set two and used that momentum to close out the match following the intermission.
As a team, the Golden Eagles were able to out-ace the Tigers 5-4, but the Tigers took advantage of Tech's .074 hitting percentage.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Friday as they travel to Belmont for a 6 p.m. CDT match in Nashville.
