Tech women's golf through two rounds at Diamante Intercollegiate

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed its second trip around Diamante Country Club Monday afternoon, rounding out round two of action at the Diamante Intercollegiate. 

The Golden Eagles followed its first-round total of 299 with a 298 on Monday, totaling 597 to tie for 14th among the 18-team field. FGCU took over the tournament lead after firing a 279, totaling 566 for the three-stroke advantage over Boston College. BC's Cynthia Zhang represented the new individual leader after a 5-under 67, sitting at 135 overall.

Tied for 30th following a 2-over 74, sophomore Lexus Julian tallied a pair of birdies of her own on the day to finish with a total of 146. Producing the top score for the purple and gold in round two was Chloe Griffith, delivering a 1-over 73. The sophomore racked up three birdies as part of the round, totaling 148 for the event to tie for 46th.

Junior Kaydi Rhodes tied for 54th with a composite score of 149 after piling up three birdies for a 76 on the day. Rounding out the scoring effort for the Golden Eagles, freshman Kailey Lane enjoyed a bounce-back day. After posting an 83 on Sunday, the rookie carded a 3-over 75 in round two with a trio of birdies to sit at 158 overall.

Contributing a 76 to the effort on Monday, junior Sydney Branson totaled three birdies while totaling 155 through her first two rounds.

The third and final round of the Diamante Intercollegiate will kick off for the Golden Eagles with tee times off the 1st hole starting at 9:10 a.m. CT.
