Purple and gold maintain position after day two of Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team maintained its position in the standings at the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Monday, completing the second round of action at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. 

The purple and gold stayed tied for 13th with Queens among the 18-team field, turning in a 301 for a two-day 607. UNCW maintained its lead at the event, posting a 282 for the second day in a row for a 564. Tying for the individual lead through two rounds were Katie Stephens of Charleston Southern and Sophie Lauture of UNCG, both of who owned a 136.

A pair of Golden Eagles tied for the team lead through the opening two rounds of play, with sophomore Chloe Griffith and junior Kaydi Rhodes tying for 30th among the 92 golfers in the field with scores of 146. Griffith fired a 2-under 70 on the day, ripping off four birdies and 11 pars, while Rhodes ended the round with a second straight 73, backed by three birdies.

Next on the leaderboard for the Cookeville crew, freshman Kailey Lane tied for 73rd after shaving a stroke from her first collegiate round. Posting a birdie, the rookie secured a 78 for a total of 157.

Following just one shot behind, senior Reagan Stuke concluded the day with an 80 and 12 pars on her way to a 158. Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Lexus Julian carded her second consecutive 83 to finish day two with a 166.

The third and final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge will feature split tee times with the Golden Eagles set to start their day at 7:34 a.m. CT on hole 10.
