Tech women's golf team through first day of action at GolfWeek Program Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The first 18 holes of the 2018-19 season are officially in the books for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team, as the Golden Eagles wrapped up the first round of the GolfWeek Program Championship Sunday morning.

After one round of play, the Golden Eagles ranked 12th among 14 teams, recording a 315 to sit two strokes ahead of Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay. Leading the event was Old Dominion with a 282 collective score. Campbell's Isabell Ekstrom led all scorers with a 67.

Tech senior Lindsay Miller led the team on day one of the tournament, tying for 12th place among the 75 participants after posting a 3-over 74. Next among the Golden Eagles was junior Shelby Johnson, whose first-round 77 tied her for 38th.

Fellow junior Arianna Clemmer and sophomore Hannah Bratton tied to rank third among the Tech participants, each carding 82s. Isabel York rounded out the Golden Eagle roster to make the trip to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, tallying a 90.

The Golden Eagles will continue play in Myrtle Beach Monday morning with tee times beginning at 6:45 a.m. CT.
