Everts earns all-tourney, Golden Eagles finish sixth at Samford Intercollegiate

HOOVER, Ala. -- Sophomore Maddi Everts finished an outstanding week at the Samford Intercollegiate with a round of 75 Tuesday, netting a third-place finish out of 60 golfers. She led the Tennessee Tech women's golf team to a sixth-place finish.

Everts played consistently through the three-round tournament, carding a final total of 76+76+75=227. The Ooltewah, Tenn. native drained 34 pars, the second-most in the field. This marks the second time in the last three tournaments at the sophomore earned all-tourney after she finished second at Tech's Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in March.

Senior Katherine Bell (21st) and freshman Megan Williamson (24th) earned top-25 finishes, scoring 241 and 242, respectively. Williamson hit the only eagle of the entire tournament, draining an estimated 130-yard approach shot on the par-four 15th hole.

Senior Amanda Randolph and freshman Allison Geer rounded out the Tech squad, which finished with a team score of 970, 20 strokes ahead of seventh-place UAB.

Host Samford won the tournament, following a playoff against Louisiana-Monroe, with a team score of 930. ULM's Alison Knowles won the individual title with a 72+76+75=223.

The Golden Eagles will return to action April 21-23 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at the Greystone Country Club.
