Tech women head to OVC Championships

DICKSON, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech women's golf team faces its most important challenge of the season this weekend at the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference championship tournament in Dickson, Tenn. The winner will go on to represent the OVC in the NCAA Championships.

The Golden Eagles will square off against the other nine conference schools at the par-72,  5,964 yard GreyStone Country Club. Head coach Polk Brown's roster for the week includes seniors Amanda Randolph and Katherine Bell, junior Amber Shepherd, sophomore Madalyn Everts and freshman Megan Williamson. 

Randolph, a native of Cookeville, Tenn., will tee of first for Tech at 9:30 a.m. CDT. The tournament consists of 54 holes over three days, Sunday - Tuesday. 

The Golden Eagles join Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Murray State, SIUE, and Tennessee State in the largest field in OVC tournament history. 

Tech is one of only three current OVC schools that has won multiple championships, with the last one coming when it one back-to-back titles in 2000 and 2001.
