COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There will be plenty of familiar faces on the course this weekend when the Tennessee Tech women’s golf team plays in the Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational at Arlington Golf Course in Richmond, Ky.

In addition to the host Lady Colonels and Tech’s Golden Eagles, several other Ohio Valley Conference schools will be in the field for the 54-hole event Saturday and Sunday, the final outing of the season for coach Brandy Stout’s TTU team before the OVC Championships, April 21-23.

OVC schools in the 13-team field include EKU, Tech, Austin Peay, Morehead Statem Murray State and Tennessee State. Also battling for the title on the 5,801-yard, par 72 layout will be Arkansas State, Bowling Green Marshall,Ohio, Southern Illlinois and Tolido.

The teams will tour the course twice Saturday for the first 36 holes, then wrap things up with a final round Sunday. Action begins both days at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.

The Golden Eagle women have won the EKU tournament three times in the fall season, but have never claimed a championship at this event during the spring season. The Golden Eagles did produce the medalist in the 2007 EKU Spring Invitational when Madison Denman carded a 75-76—151. Tech has also had three medalists at Arlington in the fall seasons with Julie Smith (2003), current assistant coach Kylie Crouch (2001) and Amy Waters (1995).

Tech is coming off a fourth place finish at the rain-shortened Belmont Invitational Tuesday, where sophomore Katherine Bell took third to earn her first career all-tournament honors.

Senior Carley Rhyne leads the Golden Eagles this season, sporting an 80.4 average through 16 rounds of tournament play. Bell is next at 81.6, followed by Amber Shepherd (81.9) and Amanda Randolph (82.9).
