HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Freshman Katy Beth Glover earned the first Top 20 finish of her Golden Eagle career, helping to lead the Tennessee Tech women's golf team to climb one spot in the final standings Monday at the Low Country Intercollegiate at the par 72, 5,853-yard Moss Creek South Course at Hilton Head.

Glover (in photo) followed her 82 Sunday with an 81 Monday, finishing at 163 to finish in a tie for 20th place to lead coach Brandy Stout's team on the leaderboard. Senior Carley Rhyne showed the biggest jump between the first and second rounds, improving from a 90 on Sunday to an 82 Monday. It left her with a 170 total and tied for 55th place.

In between was sophomore Katherine Bell, whose rounds of 84 and 86 placed her inn a tie for 51st at 163. Also in the field, Amanda Randolph sliced five shots off her first round 92 to finish with an 87 and place 67th in the tourney at 179. Freshman Brandy VanEtten was Tech's fifth entry, shooting 93-89--182 to finish 70th overall.

In the team standings, Tech cut a dozen strokes from its Sunday score of 348, carding a 336 Monday to jump ahead of USC Upstate and finish 12th in the 14-team field.

Appalachian State, which featured the top three individiual finishers, claimed the team title with a 616 total, nine shots better than Samford (325). Host Wofford (640) claimed third place, followed by Gardner-Webb (644) and SCAD-Savannah (651) in the Top 5.

Individually, Yue Xu of Appalachian State won medalist honors at 74-73--147, while teammate Kristina Boo was second at 151. Rumbidzai Masamvu of ASU was third at 152.

The next match on the schedule for the women's team is the Belmont Invitational, April 4-5.
