Golden Eagles continue conference road campaign Saturday at Austin Peay

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (5-11, 1-2 OVC) jump back into action on Saturday when they travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to face off against conference-opponent Austin Peay (4-11, 2-0 OVC) in a 4 p.m. contest at the Winfield Dunn Center.

Tech is leading the series, 73-18, over Austin Peay, while the Golden Eagles also hold a 33-10 record in competitions in Clarksville. Tech most recently defeated Austin Peay in the 2014-15 season when they won 75-71.

Senior guard Samaria Howard is the Golden Eagle's leading scorer averaging 19.4 points per game. She also averages 5.0 rebounds per game, and shoots 34.1 percent from the floor, 26.7 percent from the 3-point range, and 76.9 percent from the line. Howard's 19.4 points per game rank her 34th in the NCAA, while her 311 total points on the season rank her 11th. Also, her 93 made free throws rank her 8th nationally and her 105 made field goals rank her 33rd.

Newcomer Lindsey Jennings continues to develop as a strong point guard on the Tech team. In Jennings last showing at Murray State, she netted 6 points, connecting on 3-of-4 from the floor, while grabbing 5 boards, 2 assists, and a career-high 3 steals.

Alliyah Smith serves as the Golden Eagle's force under the basket. Smith leads Tech in rebounds, averaging 7.4 per game. She is also the Golden Eagle's fourth leading scorer averaging 5.4 points per game and shooting 41.9 percent from the floor.

As a team, Tech averages 59.7 points and 35.7 boards per game. The Golden Eagles shoot 38 percent from the field, 28.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 68.5 percent from the line.

Austin Peay averages 65.2 points and 35.9 rebounds per game. The Governors shoot 40.7 percent from the floor, 31.1 percent from the 3-point range, and 67.7 percent from the line.

Tiasha Gray leads Austin Peay in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game. Gray shoots 39.1 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from the 3-point range, and 78.6 percent from the line, while grabbing 4.0 boards per game.

Another key player on the Governor's team is Tearra Banks. Banks averages 13.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She shoots 61.2 percent from the field and 62.1 percent from the line.
