COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Curious basketball fans who are anxious to see the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team in action on the floor before the start of the season Nov. 7 will have a couple of chances in the next few days, beginning Saturday morning when coach Jim Davis' squad holds a practice and scrimmage open to the public in conjunciton with a Pancake Breakfast being hosted by the Cookeville Rotary Club.
The Golden Eagle women's and men's basketball teams will both host intrasquad scrimmages following the breakfast, which is set to run from approximately 7-10 a.m. CT.
The 2015-16 roster features 13 players, including six returnees from last year's squad, two who will begin their Golden Eagle careers after sitting out a redshirt season last winter, and five new faces.
Back from a year ago are seniors Samaria Howard, Mariah Dean and Tia Nicholson, plus junior Hannah Goolsby and sophomores Yaktavia "Shug" Hickson and Asia Harper. New faces on the floor this season will include guards Kandace Newry, Takisha "Keke" Jordan and Lindsey Jennings, along with forwards Anacia Wilkinson, Treyvonna "Trey" Brooks, Alliyah Smith and Brittany Cooper.
The cost of the breakfast is $6 on Saturday at the door.
Season tickets are on sale for the 2015-16 basketball season, and fans will have the opportunity to try the new seats in Eblen Center, and select the seats they wish to purchase. The season officially begins on Saturday, Nov. 7, when the women's team hosts the first of two exhibition games. The second exhibition is on Tuesday, Nov. 10, while the regular season tips off on Saturday, Nov. 14, with a doubleheader.
