Vanderbilt Invitational schedule of events

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech women's track & field
team will head to Nashville Friday and Saturday to compete in the
Vanderbilt Invitational. Several members of the men's cross country
team will also attend to run in the distance events.
Competition begins at 3 p.m. Friday with several field events,
including the long jump, javelin, shot put and men's pole vault.
Running events commence at 5 p.m. Friday. Among the events on
Friday evening in which Tech has multiple entries are three
distance races -- the 1,500 and 5,000 and the 3,000-meter
steeplechase.
Saturday's schedule opens at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer,
followed at noon by the women's pole vault, triple jump and high
jump. The day's action on the track starts at noon with the 4x100
relays.
Several Golden Eagles are coming off career-best efforts last week
at Tennessee State's Boston-Moon Classic in Nashville and are
looking to continue their improvement this spring. Danielle Catlett
ran a personal best in the 400-meter dash, Ashley Evans and Tiffany
Palmer in the 3,000-meter run, Kathryn Forbes at 1,500 meters and
both Krysten Joshen and Justine Phillips in the 100- and 200-meter
dashes.
Stephanie Place, who holds every Tech record above 3,000 meters,
added a career-best time at 1,500 meters, along with Amanda
Simmons.
In the field events, freshman Katie Lowery tied her own school
record in the pole vault and Haley Wennerstrom had a P.R. in the
hammer.
Among the Golden Eagle men, Peter Woerner ran a 10:13.64 in the
3,000-mete steeplechase at TSU which is a school record in that
event.
