COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech University is preparing to
host the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field
Championships later this spring, so Golden Eagle coach Tony Cox and
his squad will use Saturday's experience to help prepare for that
event.
The Golden Eagles will host four other teams in the TTU
Invitational, with visits from Kentucky State, Tennessee State,
Alabama A&M and Carson-Newman. The throwing events will begin
at 10 a.m. on the field behind the Tech Softball Field. Jumps and
running events, which will all take place inside Tucker Stadium,
get underway at 11 a.m.
Tech has recently completed construction to add pole vault and
steeplechase capabilities in the stadium and the track was
repainted to make the venue ready to host these two events.
The TTU Invitational is the first action of the outdoor season
for the Tech women's team, which is scheduled to compete in four
outdoor meets prior to hosting the OVC meet April 30 and May 1.
Admission to the TTU Invitational is free.
