KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Another full weekend of tournament play sends the Tennessee Tech tennis team to the University of Tennessee for the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships on Thursday-Monday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center and the Knoxville Racquet Club.
The competition is divided up into a 128-player singles draw and a 64-team doubles draw with consolation brackets. The contest will consist of no-ad scoring with singles matches being played to the best of three sets and doubles to 8-game pro sets.
Tournament play will be divided up as follows (tentatively): Thursday – three rounds of doubles and one round of singles; Friday – two rounds of main draw singles and two rounds of consolation singles; Saturday – two rounds of main draw singles (round of 16, quarterfinals), one round of doubles (quarterfinals), and two rounds of consolation singles; Sunday – one round of main draw singles (semifinals), one round of doubles (semifinals), and two rounds of consolation singles (semifinals, finals); Monday – singles and doubles finals.
Representing the Golden Eagles in this weekend's tournament are Alex Arovin, Alberto Esteban, Eduardo Mena, and Jorge Alfonso.
