COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following yet another perfect weekend on the courts, Tennessee Tech tennis player Eduardo Mena was recognized as the adidas® OVC Co-Male Tennis Athlete of the Week, sharing the honors with SIUE's Patrick Gaffigan.
The sophomore Mena shined in Tech's pair of weekend conference matches, pacing the Golden Eagles to wins over Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky to keep TTU undefeated in conference action at 5-0. The Bultrago del Lozoya, Spain native rolled out a 4-0 mark in the two tilts, capturing victories in both of his doubles matches and both of his singles matches out of the No. 1 spot.
The pair of singles nods pushes Mena's win streak to eight-straight, while the talented sophomore is now 14-1 this spring and 27-5 overall in singles action this year, dating back to the fall.
Mena and the rest of the Golden Eagles will look to keep their quest at perfection alive over the weekend, traveling up north for two more OVC affairs. On Friday at 1 p.m. CT, Tech will clash with SIUE, before making its way to Eastern Illinois for an 11 a.m. showdown with the Panthers.
