WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team was unable to make it two-straight wins Sunday evening, falling to No. 7 Wake Forest, 7-0, to conclude a two-match road swing in Winston-Salem.

The Golden Eagles (3-4) had their hands full after the Demon Deacons (14-4) got off to a quick start and never looked back. Wake Forest seized the doubles point with wins in the top two spots as red-shirt sophomore Christian Serpahim and senior Jon Ho took out senior Alex Arovin and junior Alberto Esteban in the No. 1 slot, before senior Romain Bogaerts and freshman Dennis Uspensky powered past sophomores Eduardo Mena and Marcos Bernardes in the No. 2 position.

The trend continued in singles play after Seraphim set the tone with a 6-1, 6-2 nod over Esteban in the No. 4 spot and Ho knocked off Arovin, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 2 slot to push the Demon Deacons edge to 3-0.

Wake Forest junior Kan Maksim officially clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Alvaro Cintas in the No. 6 position, ahead of Uspensky's win over Tech freshman Guillermo Nicolas in the No. 3 slot, only Nicolas' second singles defeat of 2016.

The Demon Deacons collected their sixth point of the affair thanks to a Keivon Tabrizi win over Bernardes in the No. 5 spot.

The tilt's final drama occurred in the featured court after Eduardo Mena's perfect run in singles play came to a close with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 loss to No. 113 Romain Bogaerts. The Tech sophomore is now 6-1 in singles action this spring.

The Golden Eagles return home for back-to-back matches, clashing with S.C. Upstate on Thursday, Mar. 10 and Ball State on Friday. Both matches are slated to get underway at noon.
