COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team keeps the 2018-19 campaign rolling Monday morning, kicking off action at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina in Sapphire, N.C.

HUMMINGBIRD INTERCOLLEGIATE: Oct. 1-2, 2018 – 54 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Sapphire, N.C. Teams will kick off with an 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start each day.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are senior Matthew Giles, sophomore Will Brooks, junior Dabney Dickenson, freshman Bryce Beeler and junior Cameron Yeary.

THE COMPETITION: The 15-team field consists of host Western Carolina, as well as, Austin Peay, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Morehead State, Stetson, Tennessee Tech and Wofford.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "The guys played very well on the first day of this event last season. They know to compete, they will need to string three strong rounds together against a large field with good teams. They are ready for the challenge and raring to play."

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Last season, the Golden Eagles were ranked fourth among 13 teams after two rounds, sitting just four strokes back of second place. A tough third round gave Tech a solid sixth-place finish, but this year's squad will focus on finishing strong with an eye on the top spot.
