COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – True freshman kicker Dom LeBlanc kept putting points on the board Saturday as Tennessee Tech defeated Eastern Illinois 23-6 to earn a share of the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Football Association title.

On Monday, he was selected as the league's Special Teams Player of the Week as the combined conference released its final Player of the Week honors.

The freshman from Dawsonville, Ga., scored 11 points in all as he hit three of four field goal tries and was 2-for-2 on point-after tries. His first field goal in the opening stanza was from a season-high 46 yards, while he also connected on kicks from 20 and 22 yards.

On kickoffs, LeBlanc kicked six times for 327 yards, posting an average of 54.5 yards per kick.

LeBlanc's selection gives the Golden Eagles six Big South-OVC player of the week selections, joining Spencer Ashby (freshman, Sept. 2), Hudson Tucker (defensive, Sept. 23), Theron Gaines (defensive, Sept. 30), Cayman Spaulding (defensive, Nov. 4) and Daniel Rickert (defensive, Nov. 18)

The other Player of the Week honors went to Western Illinois wide receiver Matthew Henry (six catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns), Leatherneck defensive end Peyton Bradford (six tackles – four solo, three sacks for 34 yards, a forced fumble and a QB hurry) and Tennessee State freshman linebacker Sanders Ellis (eight tackles – seven solo, half a tackle-for-loss and two pass breakups.)

The conference will announce its postseason honors later this week.
