COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – And the walls of Tucker Stadium have started to come crumbling down.
Demolition crews from EAI went to work on Wednesday to tear down the west side of Tucker Stadium, breaking down the lower seating in around four hours.
The work began weeks ago as University President Dr. Phil Oldham, Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson and Tech head football coach Bobby Wilder took the first swings at the brick façade, ceremonially beginning the demolition effort.
On Wednesday, everything began in earnest with the effort expected to continue over the next few days.
With the demolition and impending reconstruction, all fans at Tucker Stadium will be seated in the east grandstand for the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete for the 2026 campaign.
The Golden Eagles opened the season last week at Middle Tennessee and will head to No. 1 Georgia on Saturday. Tech opens the home slate on Sept. 21 as Tennessee State comes to Tucker Stadium.
